"We've been raving about Car Jack Streets on Pocket Gamer recently, but it wasn't the first mobile game to try to ape Grand Theft Auto.
Gameloft's Gangstar: Crime City offered a colourful take on the cars 'n' crims genre. A pretty successful one, too. According to Gameloft, the first Gangstar game sold 1.5 million mobile downloads.
It's no surprise, then, to see it getting a sequel, the aptly-named Gangstar II.
The new game promises free-roaming gameplay, with you able to drive cars or motorbikes, fight, steal, clamber into buildings, start your own businesses, and take on missions at your own pace.
The game's set in Los Angeles, with a sprawling map that takes in Hollywood, Beverly Hills, downtown, the Mexican border, the coast, the 'burbs, a harbour and a prison. The map is apparently twice as big as the first game's.
Gameloft says it's improved the driving elements, too, with more cars and – for the first time – bikes. You're able to leap off obstacles too, living out your Evel Knievel dreams.
Meanwhile, there's more than 30 missions to get your teeth into."
